VIDEO: Indian Daredevils and the Well of Death

The ‘circle of death’ is neither new nor shocking, but it’s one thing to see a professional stuntman who follows the necessary safety precautions doing it and another a group of gifted but nevertheless amateur daredevils going at it in a shoddy well made out of wooden planks with the crowd only inches away….

Definitely not a Safety Feature: The Broken Chevy Cruze Wheel that Launched 2,100 Inspections [with Video]

Thanks to the worldwide web of ours, we now have some video of the one and only (so far) recall-inducing 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. For the full story, check out our previous post here. The nitty-gritty is that a guy, his wife, one of their mothers, and their 19-month-old son were in the car when the steering wheel decided it wasn't really needed anymore and took a hike...at 65 miles per hour.

Big Brother Is Watching (You Drive) Part Deux: Rule Britannia!

In the past we’ve reported on American insurers that are offering lower premiums to young drivers in return for some of their privacy. The idea is that a camera or electronic “black box” is installed in a provisional licensee’s vehicle, which monitors driving behavior on the road. It’s Big Brother behind the wheel and a lot of parents – and a few reluctant teens – are more than willing to make the trade.

Now a UK based insurer called Marmalade will offer a similar package across the pond. The idea is a simple one: Marmalade will lease cars fitted with a data recorder (a.k.a. “black box”) to newly qualified drivers. Information on every journey is recorded and beamed back to the insurance company’s website analysis. This includes how fast the car accelerates, how quickly it corners and how harshly it brakes.

The following accident took place on a Scottish motorway near Aberdeen and was captured by a “black box” GPS/video system mounted on a semi-trailer truck. From what we can tell, the Vauxhall Corsa entered the highway on the wrong side and drove towards oncoming traffic like a kamikaze, taking a truck driver completely by surprise.

Oops Moment: Vitantonio Liuzzi Runs over F1 Marshal [Video]

The Formula 1 Grand Prix held in Malaysia last weekend gave spectators a pretty eventful race, with Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel winning again, but one of the most memorable moments took place on Friday, during the final practice session. Hispania Racing Team driver Vitantonio Liuzzi had to stop the car outside the track because of technical problems, so he exited the single seater and went to the pits. The race marshals took over from there and started pushing the car to a safe location.

VIDEO: Driverless Tractor on the Loose Wreaks Havoc at WalMart Parking Lot

In a scene that can only be described as surreal, a runaway John Deere tractor wreaked havoc at a Walmart superstore parking lot in Richmond Hill, a town located in Southern Ontario, Canada, on Wednesday. The incident was caught on film by a couple who uploaded the video on Youtube.

Here’s how they described the incident: “My girlfriend and I was going to get my car wash, however both car was stations were closed. We took a shortcut route to home which pass by our local Walmat parking lot and to our surprise, we noticed a group of spectators all looking at the far end of the parking lot and the video will explain the next 5 minutes of what happened.....”

2011 Dodge Durango puts on a Fiery Show at Cherry Blossom Parade [with Videos]

There's an old saying that any advertising is good advertising, but something tells us that the media attention received by the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel at this past weekend’s National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington D.C. isn't exactly what the Chrysler Group had in mind for publicity.

As you can see after the jump in a small sample of the videos that made their way onto the web, a brand new Dodge Durango that was towing a parade float carrying a band, suddenly started blowing smoke from under the hood.

The driver was forced to come to a halt and open the bonnet to see what was going on. The situation only got worse as flames started spilling out and eventually something blew up. At the same time, the parade came to a stop and the crowd went video-crazy.

Oops Video: Brand New 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Limited Edition Rear-Ended by Ford F-150

If we didn’t know better, we’d say that Ford is trying to wipe out the competition with its F-150 pickup truck, or as some may know it, the Ferd F-Teehthousand. The latest victim of the F-150 after the memorable stomping of a Ferrari F-150 is a brand new 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8, which judging by the bodykit, stripes, alloy wheels and badges, is the 392 limited edition with the 470-horsepower V8 Hemi.

The driver of the Dodge’s muscle car was waiting for the light when a Ford F-150 decided to give the Challenger an unnecessary -and quite painful- rear-end makeover. Follow the break to watch the clip.

Fail: The Dumbest Way to Load a Porsche Carrera GT Onto a Truck

You would think that the owner of an über rare and outrageously expensive supercar like the Porsche Carrera GT would be extra careful when it comes to transporting the exotic model. And yes, they actually used a pair of unchained wooden planks to load the Carrera GT onto the truck’s flatbed with a damaging result for the car as well as the owner’s pockets. VIDEO: Pontiac GTO Barks up the Wrong Tree at Houston Coffee and Cars Event

You can find one at every car event – you know, the show off type that ends up getting more attention than he bargained for. At the Houston Coffee and Cars event that took place on April 2, that special someone was the owner of a red Pontiac GTO (the Holden Monaro based model). The GTO driver tried to make a cool exit out of the corner but lost control of the Goat hopping over a curb and into a tree. No word if the killer shoe heel is a suspect for this latest mishap…. VIDEO: Driver Smacks Lamborghini Gallardo on Curve, Blames Broken Shoe Heel

A twin-turbocharged Lamborghini Gallardo tuned by Underground Racing received an unwanted...facelift when the driver smashed the Italian supercar on a curve at the Caffeine and Octane event in Georgia this past weekend. A forum member who appears to be a friend of the car’s owner uploaded several photos and a description of the crash over at the Car Lounge.

According to the post, the blame is put on the driver’s shoe heels that “came loose and as he stepped on the brakes, the loose part stayed partially on the gas”. A set of videos showing the crash as it happened as well as the aftermath, which translates in a broken rear suspension, wheel damage and some minor body scruffs, also made their way online. You can watch them right after the break.

Android App Locks Down Your Cell Phone When You’re Driving

Oh, if only all those futurists from the 1930s could have predicted a device as wondrous as the Smart Phone. It’s the communicator from Star Trek, a world atlas, the world’s largest department store and a personal assistant / concierge all rolled into one. You could organise a wedding or run a global empire from one of these things, and many people do.

Unfortunately, like seemingly everything humanity invents, it has its downsides as well. For some of us it can be addictive and overuse of these distracting devices can result in devastating consequences for one’s self and others, especially when use in conjunction with another wonder of the last century: the automobile.

VIDEO: Driver Gets the Fright of his Life when Wooden Plank Impales Car’s Windshield

It’s perhaps a driver’s worst nightmare: an object coming out of nowhere when you least expect it and don’t have time to do anything about it. In this truly amazing video, yet at the same time shockingly scary, the object is a wooden plank that flies straight into the car’s windshield just missing the driver. Of course he may just have avoided the plank if he hadn’t been videotaping and driving at the same time, but that’s another story… Watch the video after the jump.

Ferrari FF vs Kerb: Car Magazine Finally Posts a Picture

Last week, Car Magazine’s road tester Jethro Bovingdon became a household name after he drove a brand-new £230,000 Ferrari FF into a kerb during the press launch of the supercar in Italy. Following the release of an in-car video of the incident, the British publication has now published a photo on its website along with a short explanation from Bovingdon (see here).

“There was no kerb to begin with, and then one suddenly appeared halfway round this tight corner,” said Jethro. The intimate encounter with the kerb resulted in two dented alloy wheels.

New Video Footage from Japan’s Terrifying Tsunami

A new video clip showing the tremendous power of the tsunami that hit Japan after the 9.0 earthquake on March 11 has surfaced on Youtube. The video starts out with a mass of cars pushed over the road as the water creep ups towards the street and starts gaining momentum, eventually destroying everything in its path, including several buildings. Perhaps even scarier is the fact that the person behind the camera continued to roll despite the imminent danger all around him… Check out the clip in the video after the break.Read more »

VIDEO: 1974 Lamborghini Explodes in Garage, Destroys House that had just been Sold

A 51-year old man from Bloomfield Township lost his classic 1974 Lamborghini Espada as well as half of his home, which he had just sold to a new owner a week ago, when the vintage car exploded in his garage on Friday. According to officials, the man was trying to start up the classic four-seater Lamborghini in the garage when it exploded and erupted to flames, which quickly spread to the rest of the house. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.

Luckily, the 51-year old man as well as his mother and a dog that were in the house at the time of the accident escaped unhurt. Not surprisingly, neither the owner of the Lamborghini or the home's new owner were in the mood to comment on the incident. Watch the video report after the jump.

Wheel Explosion Fail: Porsche Cayenne and Mud don’t Mix [with Video]

Watching a modded Porsche Cayenne stuck in the mud can be quite amusing, as this video proves. The result? One of the wheels explodes triggering the airbags and causing damages to the vehicle. Watch this Porsche owner’s ‘Moment of Zen’ in the clip after the break. Read more »

VIDEO: Car Magazine’s ‘Oh F…’ Moment when Journo Breaks Ferrari FF

Automobile accidents can and will always happen, but it’s one thing denting your personal ride and another when you smash a £227,026 [equal to about US$367,000 or €260,000] loaner car from Ferrari. And that’s exactly what happened to Car Magazine’s reviewer Jethro Bovingdon during a test drive with the brand new Ferrari FF when he came in contact with a kerb.

Here’s what the British magazine had to say about the incident: “Car had a small altercation with the scenery when we drove the new Ferrari FF.” As you can see in the video after the break, Bovingdon, who was taping himself at the time of the mishap, used a far more expressive language [NSFW, mind you].

Unfortunately, up until now, we don’t have any photos or a video showing the damage to the Ferrari FF.
