E21 1979 330i Alpina

The past couple of posts have featured some nice, but stock, BMWs. (My cousin's 535i and a 318i). This car is also very nice, but it's nowhere close to stock.

This car started life as a good, but not especially exciting, 320i. At some point a 3.2 liter 6 and a 5 speed transmission from a 3.0 CSL was dropped into it. It was then given a full Alpina treatment.

The seller says the engine / transmission swap was done professionally and, based on the pictures, there's no reason to doubt that. In order to handle its new found power, it has a 4 piston front big brake upgrade with slotted rotors, a rear disc brake upgrade and upgraded front and rear sway bars. It has also been lowered.

This car comes with 2 complete interiors. The Alpina interior and an interior out of a European 315. The seller installed the latter in order to save the Alpina interior from more wear and tear. (It's showing its age - especially the driver's seat.)

Besides the interior, the Alpina package includes Alpina exclusive wheels, a front air dam, a rear spoiler and a Momo wheel.

This car is in very nice shape, but not perfect. The tach was never hooked up after the engine swap, it needs shifter bushings (very common) and has a few small rust spots. The drivers seat will need to be redone, too. All-in-all though, this is a really well done car that, with a little extra time and money, could be a show car.
